Royton Town AFC v Rochdale Sacred heart

Towns 1st XI suffered a disastrous result as they went down 6-2 in an error strewn performance against unbeaten league leaders Rochdale Sacred Heart at The Oasis Academy on Saturday.
Town conceded the 1st goal as early as the 2nd minute following a defensive mix up that led to a tap in for their opponents,Roytons Mark Hopwood then levelled the score in the 10th minute with a well taken finish, they then suffered a set back as they lost Andrew Stafford & Ethan Sutcliffe with injuries & before they could reorganise they were 3-1 down after goals in the 25th & 32nd minutes from a free header & an unfortunate own goal.
After the break Travis Martin pulled it back to 3-2 on the hour with a superb strike to give Town hope & just as they looked to be getting back into the game they suffered a further setback in losing

Jack Worrall

with an injury & almost immediately Sacred Heart netted a 4th goal direct from a corner. With Town now pushing forward in an attempt to cut the deficit they conceded further goals in the 84th & 92nd minutes to compound a heavy defeat.

So a bad day for Royton,6 goals conceded & 3 influential players suffering injuries. On a brighter note Town welcomed Liam Wood back to the club &

Danny Gilmartin

with his 1st appearance after a long lay off.
