Royton Town AFC v Old Altrinchamians

Royton first home game of the season and they did not disappoint five out of five. Royton had several players missing but had Mike Moss returning in his first game of the season & he was involved in the opening goal as he latched on to a superb pass from Craig Schumann he ran clear of the defence only to see his effort parried by the keeper which fell into the path of Cameron Horner who calmly slotted home to give Royton the lead..

Royton were playing some superb football & went further ahead in the 15th min when Mike Moss beat the offside trap and rounded the keeper and slammed it into the net to make it 2 – 0. At this point the opposition started to lose their discipline leading to a flurry of yellow cards with several robust challenges on Royton players in particular on Danny Gilmartin & Craig Schumann..One of which led to Craig being unable to carry on..Royton increased their lead in the 38th min when Joe Heap hit a superb free kick from 25 yards out which fizzed past the keeper into the top corner 3 – 0.

The second period saw Old Alts curb their discipline & started to be more of an attacking force and despite them having plenty of the ball Royton stood solid showing their resolve & Old Alts failed to make a breakthrough of any kind. Despite having to do more defending Royton still created chances throughout the second half but found the Old Alts keeper in fine form making a number of decent saves to keep them at bay. Until the 78th min when a brilliant reverse pass in the 18 yard box from Luke Heron landed at the feet of Liam Wood who rounded the keeper with ease to make the final score 4 – 0.
