Royton Town AFC U15’s v Littleborough JFC Blues U15’s

15 out of 18 lads available for this one with Sam and Fortune missing and Ciaran recovering from last weeks arm fracture.

The starting line up was
Joe in goal, Sean, Saif, Harrison and Matthew at the back, Tommy, Ben, Luke, Jackson and Ewan across the middle and Rahman up front leaving Bailey, Owen, Jack and Isaac as subs.

The first half was so one sided, Joe didnt have a save to make and most of the play was in the last two thirds but Royton were just unable to break the deadlock. You could see that it was a game for the taking but was it going to be one of those days…

With 10 minutes to play of the half, Harrison needed a rest from his defensive duties which turned out to be because he was feeling a little rough from having ‘one too many’ on Friday night; we’ve all be there and it’s not nice. So a quick sub, dropping Tommy to centre half and getting some much needed water to H.

Half time 0-0

The 2nd half got underway and a rare attack from Littleborough. The shot was blocked by Matthew but it came of his arm. Nothing he could have done about it but great effort to get his body between the shot and the nets. Penalty to Littleborough…
Joe picked his spot and dived to his right but the Littleborough player struck it straight down the middle. 1-0 to Littleborough.

The Royton lads didnt let their heads down knowing that the penalty was against the run of play and kept on battling away. 12 minutes into the 2nd half and Royton won a freekick about 25 yards out on the touchline. Jack whipped it in, the balled pinged about and Owen pounced on it to smash it in for 2nd goal in 2 games. 1-1… game on.

25 minutes played and Ben picked the ball up on the half way line, he ran towards the left corner and whipped a cross in to Rahman. Rahman, with his back to goal played it off to Ewan who slotted it in. A fantastic goal with some really good buildup play. 2-1 to Royton.

Just 2 minutes later and Littleborough tried feeding the ball through to their striker but Matthew got their first. He smashed his clearance low and hard which turned out to be a fantastic pass to Rahman who got to use his pace and break past their last defender. Rahman decided to be cautious and take it closer to make sure he converted it. 3-1 to Royton.

Another fantastic performance from the lads and they got what they deserved out of this one. Again there were a few up for MOM but due to his none stop running and his determination it was awarded to Ben.
