Two late cry offs meant a couple of midfield players had to be drafted into the defense. The start of the first half was much better than last week but we knew it would be tough due to the wind. Playing with it behind us at the start off so we were hoping to kill the game off in the first 35 minutes.
Some decent football for the first five minutes creating plenty of chances and it was Rahman Folami on eight minutes to break the deadlock forcing the keeper into an error.
Beechfield didn’t get a sniff all half but Royton just couldn’t find the back of the net. This could have been four or five at halftime but it wasn’t…..just 1-0.
The start of the second half was much the same but with the wind now against us and Beechfield started to use it to their advantage.
A run down our right hand side into the box where four Beechfield players were waiting. Thirteen minutes played and 1-1.
Two minutes later and a wind assisted through ball put their attacker in a one on one with Ciaran who got his hand to it, but it slipped in 2-1 to Beechfield.
Switching things about a bit and with the wind dying off Royton started to create some chances, Rahman made a great run and crossed it for Jack Gibson to pass into the back of the net. 2-2 with eighteen played.
Harrison back on in the centre started to create a few chances for himself but it was just the final ball.
Royton made enough chances to win this and with this along with last week’s slip ups could have knocked us off the table – but never mind.
