A fine performance by the reserves against a very young outfit from Dunkinfield Town.. Royton started well and were a goal to the good inside five minutes by Jack Barnes. Jack added to his tally again inside the next ten minutes but the visitors gradually settled and claimed a goal back with immediate effect inside the first 15 minutes three goals . Then the game settled down with both teams playing some excellent football. Royton had two new debutantes one being Steve Ross playing at left back who was excellent and the other being Mark Hopwood who turned in a fantastic performance leading the line . He created two goals for Jack Barnes and calmly slotted one home himself. The goal of the game came from Amin Adin he was supplied with some hard work from Jack Howarth down the right flank he was determined from the off as soon as he came on as sub.He placed the ball straight to Amin who volleyed home with power and precision. The game was played at a frantic pace by both teams .. Then Dukinfield were awarded a dubious penalty, Their striker stepped forward and fired his shot against the post a let off for Royton. But at the other end Royton had two clear penalty shouts but the referee did not think so . All credit to both teams the game was played in excellent spirit ..
A great result for Royton keeps the pressure on all the teams at the top pushing for promotion.
