Roach DynamosOrange U14’s v Royton Town AFC U14’s

Roach Dynamo Orange 2 – 5 Royton Town (J. Fulton, T. Wild x 2, I. Boamah, R. Folami)
Under 14’s played away at Roach Dynamo Oranges on Saturday – 10:30 ko.  A team we’ve faced many times over the years since under 7’s and never beaten.  Not having any pre-season friendlies due to holidays then I wasn’t expecting too much out of the game.  Luckily, nobody told the lads that and they played an absolute blinder.
Jackson Fulton opened the scoring for Royton Town on 6 minutes and then Harrison Fulton whipped in a free kick on the 9th minute for Tommy Wild to slide in.  The game opened up a little after this with both sides creating chances but it was Isaac Boamah who got the next on the half hour mark to make it 3-0.  A minute later Tommy Wild got his 2nd to make it a half time lead of 4-0.  It wasn’t all one way traffic though, Ciaran Sutcliffe produced a string of superb saves to keep a clean sheet at the half way mark.
As expected, Roach started to apply the pressure early in the 2nd half but this left them with gaps at the back and it was Rahman Folami breaking through to score what we thought was the 5th.  Given by the referee only to then have his mind changed by the opposition coaches after what seems to everyone else as a shoulder to shoulder challenge.
Roach did manage to pull one back in the 12th minute and continued to press only to be undone by a classic counter attack.  Last seasons top goal scorer finally off the mark – Rahman Folami bursting through to score.  There is nobody going to catch him once he gets going.  5-1 to Royton Town with 3 minutes to go.  Somehow the referee found three minutes of extra time from somewhere and gave the softest penalty that you’ll see all season against us for a ball to hand from a sliced clearance.  Literally the last kick of the game made it 5-2 to Royton Town.  Fantastic effort all around.  MOM could have gone to anyone, Tommy Wild worked tirelessly in the middle, Ewan McMurdo put in one of his best performances for a long time and Harrison Fulton was like a young Scholes pinging his passes about from midfield but it had to go to the crazy keeper – a string of superb saves in the first half and clearing countless corners.
MOM – Ciaran Sutcliffe
