Middleton Lads & Girls Blue U12’s v Royton Town AFC U12’s

Royton Town AFC U12’s returned to Premier League action for the first time since Dec 8th with the knowledge that their fate is back in their own hands following the Prestwich victory over title rivals Middleton Lads Reds the week before.
On a difficult pitch Royton started brightly and soon went ahead when Jack Hulme broke free and finished smartly past the advancing keeper. This lead was doubled when Dennis Boamah in outstanding form in recent weeks made it 2 and Sam Gidley added a 3rd with a first time effort following a good run and cut back from Josh Thompson. Another close range finish from Dennis saw Royton come in at half time 4-0 up and in control of the game.
The second half saw several changes but Royton still dominated getting in behind on numerous occasions against a team insisting on playing a high line which was continually exposed. Ollie Flynn added a 5th with a good run to get on the end of a smart Joe Stott cross with a close range tap in and Charlie Morgan scored his first goal from open play which was finished and celebrated in style. Middleton got a late consolation which denied Reece Scarlett the clean sheet he deserved following several top class saves from Middleton breaks but Josh Thompson popped up in the last minute with a fine first time strike following good work from Vincent Arthurs.
A clinical all round team performance which sets up the title decider in 2 weeks perfectly.
MOM was given to Reece Scarlett unusual for the keeper to get it in a 7-1 victory but 2 or 3 saves he made were right out of the De Gea top drawer.
