Towns 1st teams visit to reigning champions & present league leaders Hindsford FC ended in a 4-2 defeat on Saturday.
Town started the game well playing some excellent football & could have taken an early lead when leading scorer Liam Wood left the home defence standing but fired his effort just over the bar,but minutes later he made up for that miss when he opened the scoring in the 19th minute with a well taken goal after a pin point cross from Joe Heap,Woody then increased Towns lead in the 25th minute as he panicked the Hindsford centre half into a mistake before taking the ball round the keeper & cooly slotting home to make it 2-0.At this point it was looking good for Town but a disastrous 10 minute spell saw the game take a change for the worst as they conceded 3 poor goals in the 32nd,35th & 40th minutes & were reduced to 10 men in the 42nd minute when Wayne Dean reacted to provocation & was dismissed by the referee.
Half Time 2-3
The second period saw Town giving as good as they got as the home side looked to take advantage of the extra man but Town did all they could in the circumstances to get something out of the game, alas a brave effort came to an end in the 82nd minute when Hindsford notched a 4th goal albeit looking suspiciously offside.
Despite the defeat it was a valiant effort from the lads & but for that 10 minute spell at the end of the 1st half we could’ve come away with a positive result. There was some decent performances throughout the team, young keeper Harry Fleet made a couple of excellent saves, centre backs Aaron Holton & Alex Maloney were solid in the 2nd half as was young Jack Howarth at full back but M.O.M.went to Liam Wood who was a real handful for the home defence particularly in the 1st half scoring 2 well taken goals.
