Heyside Reserves v Royton Town AFC Reserves

Treacherous conditions up at Heyside Reserves . The game started of with the home team scoring with in the first minute after a blatant foul on Roytons centre half but the referee let the game continue and the home side took the lead. Royton eventually settled and gradually started to play and if  the young guns would of had their scoring boots on could of been 3 goals to the good before the 30 minute mark. But to no avail, but they did get one back and after 25 minutes into the game  and were looking the stronger side.  Heyside then grabbed the lead after what became probably Roytons worst 15 minutes of the season.  4-1 down at half time.. After the half time team talk Paul and Duncans words must of hit home to some of the young lads and they came out with a positive attitude and also a tactical change by the managers reverting to a back four..  They got back into the game with some great play by putting Aaron Thorpe in centre midfield totally dominating the older players of Heyside at a tender age of 21..Young Jack Sloane was outstanding as well he opened the scoring for Royton and also the ever reliable Joe Gidley netted the second with Jack Barnes adding the third. As the game went on Royton looked the fitter team and were causing Heyside all sorts of problems.. All credit to Heyside they won but i feel they were hanging on towards the end..Also in the last five minutes Royton should of had a penalty a clear foul on Aaron Thorpe in the box everyone in the ground clearly saw this except the referee..  Great game to watch ..Well done

MoM Aaron Thorpe
