Recap
A very slow start by Royton they never looked at getting into the game at all. They were out played in the first half by an energetic Chadderton team and if the home team had there scoring boots on could of easily been more than the 1 – 0 advantage at half time. Ian Hulme was stand in manager for todays game with the help of his dad Barrie and Phil dean. They half time team talk did the trick and Royton came out and started to make an impact into the game. Must say that the pitch at Chadderton is not the greatest and it certainly did not help Roytons usual free flowing passing game. Just when Royton needed a bit of luck up stepped Danny Gilmartin to equalise never one for hiding in games this lad always leads by example. To be fair the game was looking to be draw until some late drama in the last minute when Royton were awarded a penalty and up stepped cool as you can Luke Heron to calmly slot the ball home, Another 3 points for Royton to keep on the toes of the leaders Hinsdford. Royton are going to need to improve in their next league match which is against Hindsford down at Squires Lane this game will be the title decider between the two teams but also they must be careful with the teams in 3rd and 4th if they win the games in hand its anyones title.Sometimes you got to win ugly to win the league and that what Royton had to do today ..Well done guys.
