Chadderton Park Lions U12’s v Royton Town AFC U12’s

A simply bizarre game with possibly the worst refereeing decision you will witness in any season against their local rivals ..Royton who were in total control in the first half 3-1 up with 2 goals from Jack Hulme and another from Dennis Boamah without really getting out of second gear. A poor goal almost on the stroke of half time gave the game an unrealistic feel which should really have been already put to bed. The game turned halfway through the second half when Jack Hulme skipped a couple of challenges and his cross / shot sailed into the far top corner. Inexplicably the referee from 30 yards away near the middle of the pitch decided the ball had crossed the goal line and awarded a goal kick. Quite how he could have seen this from his position and quite how the ball could have ended in the far top corner from behind the goal line is unexplainable.

This shocking decision affected Royton and they somehow found themselves 4-3 behind in a game they had been in total control in. A last gasp stunning strike from Ollie Flynn rescued a point which still felt like a loss. A deserved MoM for Jack Hulme who was outstanding.

MoM Jack Hulme
