Bolton Lads & Girls Club v Royton Town AFC Reserves

vs

Recap

A lack-luster performance by the reserves but it was enough to see them get the 3 points to remain top of the league. The score line actually flattered the home team Royton could of easily of been 5 up in the first twenty minutes but some poor finishing from the Royton youngsters . It took an old head in Dave Ashworth to break the deadlock to put Royton in the driving seat and soon after that Royton went 2 up with a neat move down the left flank with a superb little clip from Farai Hwenga .. Royton i think relaxed a little to much . All credit to the Bolton Lads the came out fighting in the second half. These guys are bottom of the league and they turned up with 12 players no manager and no staff or committee members to support them . To make matters worse no referee . There captain give them a few home truths at the half time team talk and it worked they got themselfs back into the game with a penalty. The captain took the responsibility and smashed the ball home. Bolton carried on pressing but got caught short at the back and Jack Barnes ran onto a neatly timed pass to round the keeper to make it 3 – 1 . Bolton rallied again and grabbed another to leave the last ten minutes very nervous for the visitor. The young guns held there nerve to see the game out to run out eventual winners. Some games you never get to see the free flowing football but on a bright note the young lads from Royton are showing that they have to graft to win games as well.  Great effort from the lads ,.. Roytons captain Andy Simpson had a fine game in the middle of the park but Young Jack Howard was the star for me his work rate and passing kept his team ticking over ..

All credit to Bolton Lads & Girls Club its not easy at the bottom of the league but they gave Royton a game and with the attitude they applied today i am sure you will be on the rise.. RESPECT

MoM Jack Howard
