Royton started the game on the front foot looking to trouble the home team with there pace and power . Liam Wood could of scored as early as the first 2 mins of the game but his shot went just wide. Bolton then began to settle into the game and on there first attack scored a soft goal, but all credit to Royton they grabbed themselfs a well earned equaliser from the returning Mikey Moss . The game then became a scruffy affair no team actually gaining an advantage until some confusion involving a throw in which led to a straight red card to Roytons Billy Dempsey. In the confusion the referee then decided it was Wayne Dean who was the culprit before realising his error sent Billy to the stands. Then five minutes later Roytons captain Tim Astley was send of with a straight red involving a challenge on the home teams keeper. The referee deemed his challenge as intending to do harm . . Royton were down to 9 after 25 minutes. All credit to Royton they battled on and kept attacking the home side. 1 -1 half time.
Roytons never say die attitude deserves alots of respect despite being down to nine men in the second half but tired legs towards the end saw them concede a late goal eventually running out to a 2 – 1 defeat. To be fair to both teams the referee did not give the game the respect it deserved by contentious decisions all the way through the game.. Total shame for both clubs because the game started of with both teams hungry for the win.
Must mention a tireless display from Danny Gillmartin and Mikey Moss & Liam Wood.. So my MoM award goes to Liam Wood
